On November 22 we will be participating in the 47th Annual Sylvia Besana Holiday Parade which begins at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Riverside/Douglas/Vernon in Roseville. One of our members Noel (BBC) took the time to set this up for us and it should prove to be a fun and entertaining event. With the quads on parade we are hoping to bring awareness to the popularity of our sport along with attracting new members to the site to enhance the opportunities that can be had as we work further together as a group. So take the time to read the thread about it here, and try to put your name on the list to attend and ride in the parade. The more the merrier!!
BLM waives recreation-related
fees for veterans on Veteran's Day
The Bureau of Land Management will waive recreation-related fees for veterans
and military personnel, along with their families, on Veterans Day, Tuesday,
November 11. BLM Director Jim Caswell, a Vietnam veteran, encouraged veterans
and members of the U.S. Armed Forces to recreate on BLM-managed or other Federal
lands on November 11, saying, "We want to thank the men and women who have
served or are serving our country through military service. This is a small, but
special way in which we can express our gratitude and our appreciation to them."

Obama administration will protect
public lands, pursue green energy
"Western Democrats and environmentalists will have more influence on federal
land decisions in Idaho and the West under President Barack Obama ... But there
is a tension between environmentalists who want him to reverse decisions made by
the Bush administration and Western Democrats who hope Obama's pledge to govern
in a 'post-partisan' manner means he will bring a collaborative approach to
public land issues. 'He's not going to make some of the mistakes of the past,'
said Cecil Andrus, former Idaho governor and Jimmy Carter's interior secretary.
'He knows his history'." Catch the full version here.
Off Roaders Want More Access...
Members of various off-highway
vehicle clubs help clear and stabilize a new section of the #15 trail in the
Chappie-Shasta OHV area Saturday during a volunteer event coordinated by the
Bureau of Land Management. Club members also did rehabilitation work in sections
of the OHV area affected by the Motion Fire." Accompanying story: "Concerned
that the U.S. Forest Service isn't listening to them as it plans to revise their
paths through the north state woods, off-roaders are looking for help from
county leaders ... But Shasta-Trinity National Forest officials said the public

Manufacturer news.
Yamaha Unveiled it's all newly redesigned YFZ450R to much anticipated fanfare. With its 50in. wheelbase and fully adjustable shocks this makes Yamaha's already formidable quad that much more competitive. Aluminum frame, fuel injection and a newly re-designed frame bottom that lets the engine sit lower for excellent mass centralization adds to the stability and cornering characteristics of this already potent quad. And for all you serious Yamaha diehards you will be pleased to note that the new throttle lever requires less effort, and it’s very comfortable to use. That means less fatigue during all-day riding. With a MSRP of $7999.00 I can already imagine I will be seeing quite a few of these at the track in the coming year and kudo's to Yamaha for bringing out the long awaited re-design to the YFZ!
Yamaha's Bill Ballance wins his 9th consecutive GNCC ATV XC1 Pro Championship. The long cross-country course at Ohio’s Powerline Park was wide open and fast, with plenty of dusty fields and hill-climbs, and the occasional mud-hole to stymie the riders. With the XC1 Pro championship his for the claiming, Ballance was on a mission, firing his YFZ450 quickly to the front, swapping the lead with Ockerman early in the almost two-hour race, and then checking out from the pack to win by 50 seconds over Ockerman, who strongly maintained second on another YFZ450. “Bill and his YFZ have truly added another new chapter in the GNCC history books,” said Yamaha Off Road Coordinator Donnie Luce.
Suzuki unveils the 2009 z400 Quadsport!! Starting to look a lot more like the ltr 450 with its body style and fuel injection, the z400 still is a great machine for those that are going for the trails. With the new fuel injection, that should even make it better!! Check it out here.

One Year Ago.....
Yes one year ago, we were here. Take a look at the news from then and who was the QOTM by going here.
My thoughts....
As the holiday season approaches and the end of another year draws near, I reminisce about all the things that have happened in the course of the year and what the new and fast approaching year may bring. I may, due to my advanced years, not remember everything that happens during the year, but in the course of it some things stick with me. This year we had plenty of opportunities to race, the hangover day marathon at Sand Hill ranch being the kick off of the year on Jan 1... all the races held at Riverfront Park (thanks Jim and Scott) They were sure fun. Got to attend 3 of the WORCS series races and found how much fun they can be. CMC was there again for us as was Ukiah Speedway Mx. Didn't get to the dunes once this year which was a bummer, but in my thoughts the one thing I say is that most of all I am grateful for all the new friends I have made during the course of the year at the events I have attended and by them taking the time to participate in this site. We have a great sport and with continued participation and growth our opportunities abound. Stay involved and help promote your sport!!
